BASICS OF
BLOCKSBOX YOU NEED TO KNOW
You probably all know about the Blocks plug-in from Yourhead. It is a great tool to edit content with. Unfortunately it does not give you total lay-out control but with BlocksBox it does. BlocksBox has no predesigned elements like all other themes do. You are able to position and style all elements yourself, no coding skills required.
Like most themes can all BlocksBox options be found in the Page Inspector (shortcut: shift-command-i) under the Themes Styles tab (colored circle). Effects only take place when in preview-mode.
Custom images can be added to BlockBox by entering the themes content folder. To enter this folder follow the next few steps:
1. name your image the same as the option in the Page Inspector shows. Example: if you want your custom image to to show up when selecting background6.jpg name your image background6 and save it as a .jpg
2. right-click (or control-click) on the BlocksBox previewimage (the previewimage is the image you click to select themes). Now select ‘Show contents’, a new finder window will show up
3. drag and drop your image into the ‘images’ folder
Since BlocksBox comes without predefined elements you will have to make a menu yourself. There are a lot of possible solutions. You could make some simple text links or create some buttons yourself using an image editor (Button Builder). When you buttons are ready you can drag and drop them onto a blocks-page. It could be nice to add a mouse-over effect. Mouse-over effects can be added in the Block Inspector > Content > Image tab. When using text-links you can add a nice custom menubar-image behind it to give it a better look.
